The COVID-19 pandemic has seriously impacted the development of the world tourism industry. In the post-pandemic era, how shall we accelerate the recovery of the tourism industry and stimulate the vitality of world tourism cities? The World Conference on Tourism Cooperation and Development 2022, hosted by the World Tourism Cities Federation (WTCF), was held at the China National Convention Center in Beijing on 1 September 2022. As one of the seven summit forums held during the 2022 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS), the conference focused on the theme of "Deepening Cooperation and Innovation for Development" and attracted more than 300 delegates from 49 countries. At this grand in-person gathering, they shared their wisdom and plans for promoting the development of world tourism cities and the revitalization and prosperity of global tourism.
The year 2022 marks the tenth anniversary of the founding of the World Tourism Cities Federation (WTCF). Since its establishment, WTCF has been guided by the core vision of Better City Life through Tourism, and built an international organization providing a platform of exchange and cooperation for mutual benefit, with a view to build a community of shared future for mankind through tourism.
The Jining (Qufu) Forum on World Famous Cultural Tourism Cities 2022, an event co-hosted by the World Tourism Cities Federation (WTCF), Shandong Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, and Jining Municipal People's Government, was held in Qufu, Jining, Shandong Province, on 26 June 2022.
On 26 May, WTCF Conference on Asia-Pacific Tourism 2022 was held online. It was hosted by the World Tourism Cities Federation (WTCF) and supported by the Tourism Promotion Organization for Asia Pacific Cities (TPO).
On March 2, 2022, the World Tourism Cities Federation (WTCF) and the Tourism Research Centre, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (TRC-CASS) jointly released the World Tourism Economy Trends Report (2022) in Beijing. Centered on the structural recovery of the world tourism economy, the results released in the Report presents a comprehensive summary and study on the tourism recovery around the world, changes in regional tourism development patterns, tourism development performances of the T20 countries (the top 20 countries in the world in terms of total tourism revenue), and innovative tourism development strategies of key cities, amidst the pandemic. Moreover, it forecasts four tendency changes in the structural recovery of world tourism in 2022, inspiring the further development of world tourism, and offering decision-making references and intellectual support to governments, cities and the tourism industry.
