As one of the ten summit forums held during the 2023 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTS), the Conference was themed "New Trends - New Business Format - New Consumption: Jointly Creating the New Prosperity for Culture & Tourism". Nearly 400 delegates from about 30 countries and regions gathered to share innovative ideas, decisions, and practices and to look into the development potential and prospects of the world's tourism cities under the accelerating trend of global tourism recovery.
The World Conference on Tourism Cooperation and Development 2023, co-hosted by the World Tourism Cities Federation (WTCF) and the People's Government of Beijing Municipality, will be held in Beijing on September 2 and themed "New Trends · New Business Format · New Consumption: Jointly Creating the New Prosperity of Culture & Tourism." During the conference, WTCF will release the World Tourism Cities Development Report (2022), its latest research outcome.
In 2025, Rio de Janeiro will host the annual event of ISO/TC 228, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) technical committee dedicated to tourism activities. ISO/TC 228 was created in 2005, with Brazil actively participating since its first meeting through the Brazilian Tourism Committee (CB 54), linked to the Brazilian Association of Technical Standards (ABNT). Although the exact dates of the event have not yet been defined, it is expected to be an important milestone for the Brazilian tourism sector.
