Guilin: Relax Oneself in Nature

Guilin is known for its brilliant landscape. Wujiutan(Chinese Tallow Tree Wetland), Mount Yao and Qingshitan(Green Lion Lake) are all very good choices for you.

Wujiutan(Chinese Tallow Tree Wetland) is located in Zhujiang Village, Yanshan District, Guilin, which is about 20 kilometers away from the urban area of Guilin. There are many tallow trees around Wujiutan(Chinese Tallow Tree Wetland), hence the name. Visitors can climb a hill beside Wujiutan and have an overlook of the landscape, giving them a panoramic view of the lush tallow woods. In addition to these spectacular scenery, the fresh air here can help you relieve from the stress of fast-paced life in modern cities. 

Located in the northeast of Guilin, Mount Yao is about 10 kilometers away from the downtown. The main peak of Mount Yao is 909.3 meters above sea level, being the highest peak in Guilin. In summer, Mount Yao is an excellent destination for you to go camping for its scenic beauty. In 1990s, the cable car was opened at the western foot of Mount Yao, which takes about 20 minutes to get to the top, so that visitors to Mount Yao can reach the top in a short time and enjoy the gorgeous scenery.

Qingshitan(Green Lion Lake) is located in the upstream of the Lijiang River, 28 kilometers away from Guilin City, with a total area of 170 square kilometers and a lake area of about 30 square kilometers. It is known as "the greatest lake in southern China" and it is the closest primitive ecological nature reserve to Guilin. In 1994, it was approved as "Provincial Tourist Resort" by the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. There is a green hill which is like a lion by Qingshitan(Green Lion Lake), hence the name. If you come here for camping, you can take a boat tour and enjoy the unique scenery of primeval forests and ethnic villages in the lake area.
