Oberwiesenthal Fichtelberg Ski Resort, 86 kilometers from Dresden, is a very good choice for winter sports. The peaceful Johanngeorgenstadt is a very important town near the Erzgebirge. The town is endowed with a less complicated ski area named Ski-lift Johanngeorgenstadt am Külliggut. It is nevertheless the best choice for families and ski beginners due to its rather flat and wide slope with a length of 1.2 kilometers. On top of that, the snow here can last until early March given that the town is located on the north side of the Erzgebirge.
