Train Stations

Basmane Station is the main train station of Izmir, owned by TCDD. The station takes its name from the Basmane district of Izmir. It serves TCDD trains above ground and Izmir Metro trains underground. The station building was designed in a classic style by Gustave Eiffel, the famous French Architect of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, and was built in 1876 by the French firm Régie Générale. This building is the twin of the Lyon Station in France, which was built at the same time by the same firm. When you enter the building, the traces of French architecture can be seen easily. Although the breezes from the old French Architecture can be noticed in Basmane Station, it is not disconnected from the Basmane district with the materials used in its construction. The station also carries the traces of the Industrial Revolution.

There are regular TCDD services from Basmane Station to Eskişehir, Ankara, Konya, Isparta, Bandırma, Uşak, Denizli, Ödemiş and Tire every day. At the same time, one stop of Fahrettin Altay - Evka3 (M1) metro station is Basmane Train Station.

Alsancak Station is another important train station. Alsancak Station is the second oldest train station in Turkey. Today, it is used as the İZBAN station connecting Bergama to Ephesus.
