Andorra la Vella, capital of the Principality of Andorra and the highest capital in Europe, at the heart of Andorra and the Pyrenees, is transformed into the Capital of Dreams months before Christmas. Inspired by the Christmas season falling within one of Andorra la Vella's busiest tourist months, the Christmas Village (El Poblet de Nadal) is designed to promote shopping, tourism and culture, and has become a seasonal attraction in southern Europe.
The Christmas Village offers a multitude of festive activities for visitors and locals of all ages, especially little children who are enchanted by the atmosphere.
There is the Christmas market, with about thirty wooden huts offering typical seasonal products – something to decorate your home or delight your taste buds - and other items to give to loved ones on Christmas Day. Children can find a choice of activities here, ranging from workshops to storytellers, and one of the entrances to the market has a huge stage with original, entertaining themes that change from year to year.
As well as the market, you have "Neret After Shopping", an extensive eating area where you can relax in the open air and listen to live music after an intense day of skiing and shopping.
Added to this, weekends are enlivened by a variety of large-scale street performances that proceed down Avinguda Meritxell, the main shopping street of the capital, to the amazement of young and old alike. There are also fun activities for children at different landmarks in Andorra la Vella - a Magic Post Office where they can deliver their letters to Santa Claus; the Catalan tradition of Caga Tió (a log filled with sweets), and a series of enchanting scenes called "Magic Selfies" where you can take special photos on the legend of the Menairons, the elves who deliver Christmas presents to children all around the world.
The Christmas Market launches in the last week of November, as the Christmas lights are switched on and the Christmas Market opens with a street performance and a spectacular firework display.
Visit the Christmas Village and discover the magic of the Capital of Dreams!
