News Americas, NEW YORK, NY, Fri. July 21, 2017:

Caribbean tourism leaders are being urged to link hands with other tourism officials around the globe as they mark the fifth year of the Fragrant Hills Tourism Summit.

The event has been presented since 2012 by The World Tourism Cities Federation, (WTCF), an international tourism organization voluntarily formed by well-known tourism cities and tourism-related institutions around the world under the Beijing initiative.

WTCF currently has 182 members, including 121 city members and 61 institutional members of world-renowned travel agencies, media organizations, airports, airlines, hotel groups, financial firms and other tourism- related institutions but none in the Caribbean which means the entire region will be left out of the Summit this year unless they urgently reach out.

This year’s summit will be held from September 19-20 in Los Angeles, CA under the theme: “Impact of Globalization on World Tourism City Development.”

Last year’s summit was held in Chongqing, China and featured over 400 delegates from 89 cities, 57 institutions and representatives from UN, UNWTO, WTTC, GTEF and PATA. During the summit, 40 tourism investment projects which involved 22 regions and counties were signed successfully, and the total contract value reached USD 11.6 billion.

This year’s summit will closely focus on the trends of the global tourism market and invite large investment institutions from the entire world, particularly from China, to negotiate projects and make tourism investments with members.
