Press Conference Held at the World Tourism Cities Federation Fragrant Hills Tourism Summit 2017

On the afternoon of September 19th, Los Angeles local time, the press conference of the Los Angeles Fragrant Hills Tourism Summit 2017 was held at the InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown. Renowned media outlets such as CCTV, Xinhua News Agency, People's Daily, China Daily, Associated Press (AP), Bloomberg, ABC News Radio, and Los Angeles Times (LA Times) attended the press conference.

The press conference was hosted by WTCF Executive Deputy Secretary-General Li Baochun. At the beginning, two signing ceremonies were held: Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board, Xiamen Airlines, and Qingdao Municipal Commission of Tourism Development signed a tripartite agreement; and WTCF, Tencent, and Helsinki have signed a tripartite cooperation agreement related to an intelligent tourism model for China outbound tourism. WTCF has been working to boost the cooperation between cities, between cities and institutes, and between institutes, expanding the fields of cooperation, improve cooperation levels, and effectively promote the cooperation and mutual benefits between its members.

After the signing ceremonies, Song Yu, Secretary-General of WTCF, introduced the relevant situation of the summit. Patti MacJennett. Senior Vice President, Business Affairs at Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board, introduced the preparations for the 2017 Fragrant Hills Tourism Summit. Wang Shujuan, Deputy Director of Qingdao Tourism Development Commission, answered the questions from journalists about the preparation for the 2018 Fragrant Hills Tourism Summit. As the newly elected host city of the 2019 Fragrant Hills Tourism Summit, Laura Aalto, CEO of Helsinki Marketing, introduced the travel resource and related promotional activities of Helsinki.

During the press conference, WTCF Secretary-General Song Yu answered questions about “Why choose globalization as the theme of this summit”. He thinks globalization is the trend of the development of the world today, and tourism boosts the development of globalization. Through tourism, we can make the communication between cities more approachable. Afterwards, reporters proposed questions that they were concerned about.
