【Introduction】:During the WTCF Beijing Fragrant Hills Tourism Summit 2026, the World Tourism Cities Federation expanded its membership to 269. Starting today, we will be rolling out a series of special features highlighting our new members. Today, we'll begin with Agnibilékrou.

The City of Agnibilékrou is located in the Indénié-Djuablin region in southeastern Côte d’Ivoire, near the border with Ghana. It is situated approximately 300 km from Abidjan, offering direct access to the landscapes and culture of eastern Côte d’Ivoire.

The Kingdom of Agnibilékrou is one of the ancestral traditional kingdoms of southeastern Côte d’Ivoire, with a history dating back several centuries.

It was founded by the ancestors of the Gontougo people, who organized society around a supreme chief or king, the guarantor of order, justice, and the preservation of customs and traditions.

Over time, the kingdom has succeeded in preserving its traditions while integrating itself into the modern administrative framework of Côte d’Ivoire.The kingdom is a cultural destination for those wishing to discover traditional life and local customs.

Visitors can attend ceremonies, meet local artisans, participate in cultural workshops, and explore the surrounding villages.

The region also offers natural and agricultural landscapes ideal for excursions and for discovering cocoa, coffee, and rubber plantations.
